Who came out on top in the doubles?

15 September 2020

At the 15th Eurobuild CEE Annual Tennis Tournament, it was not only the men’s and ladies’ singles titles that were being fought out on the courts of the Warszawianka tennis club in Warsaw, but also the doubles. A total of 16 pairs were entered in the competition this year. In the end it was not only mistakes and injuries that decided who would take the main trophy, but also the skill and ability of the winners. And the top prize went to Krzysztof Stempień (Cresa) and Filip Bojdo (Omikron Capital). In the final match they faced off against Bartosz Hys and Anton Bashtavy (Centerscape) to finally triumph 6:3. Both Hys and Bashtavy demonstrated – and more than just once – that they weren’t giving up without a fight, but in the end they both had to succumb to the superb skills of their rivals. After a fierce battle, resulting in an injury to Anton, the pair still managed to do themselves proud by finishing as runners-up. Grzegorz Czaus and Marcin Opaliński (Rheinzink) also showed a fierce competitive edge, but in the end had to settle for third.
Finally, it should be pointed out that most of the doubles pairs also played in the singles tournament, so those who walked away with the trophies also deserve huge respect for their extraordinary feat of endurance and the impressive condition they have managed to keep themselves in.
